Public Engagement & Research Associate

Job Description:
Kenjya-Trusant is seeking a candidate to fill the role of Public Engagement & Research Associate to provide services to support  the United States Diplomacy Center, Office of Policy, Planning, and Resources, Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs at the United States Department of State.  The primary objective is to provide contractor services and deliverables through performance as they relate to the organization’s mission.

Clearance Requirement - Public Trust (MRPT)

Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Perform original historical research in support of museum exhibits, tours, and programs
  • Conduct primary source text and image research for exhibits
  • Assist in the creation of exhibit-based education materials
  • Design and conduct tours of Diplomacy Center exhibits for multiple audiences
  • Plan topics for panel discussions and other programs for the general public
  • Recruit and manage speakers for panels and programs
  • Assist with training volunteers to conduct exhibit tours
  • Other related duties as assigned
Required Skills and  Experience:
  • BA in American history, Museum Studies, or associated field, MA preferred
  • 2-3 years of work experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team
  • Experience working on deadline in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with secondary and college students preferred
  • Experience engaging with the general public through programs such as panel discussions or films
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong Interpersonal skills with all levels of management
