POSITION:  Senior Systems Engineer (Security Architect)
LOCATION:  Annapolis Junction/Fort Meade, MD 20701

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent candidate shall provide systems engineering support to the customer on a fast paced product modernization effort. Specifically, the contractor will assist in planning and designing the network and security architecture as well as drafting required documentation to support this planning and design work.
The employee shall identify, analyze, and recommend potential network and security architectures for the system.  The Systems Engineer (SE) shall document the pros and cons for each design option and describe potential risks; interoperability feasibility; system flexibility; sustainability, and maintainability, technology maturity levels, system security vulnerabilities; and the likelihood the design will achieve the program’s goals for each option.
MANDATORY EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a qualified engineering field or a related discipline from an accredited college or univerisity plus a minimum of 15 years of general systems engineering experience.
  • *A Master’s degree or PhD may be substituted for two years of experience, for a total of thirteen (13) years of experience.
  • *A High School Diploma or GED plus nineteen (19) years of experience will also be considered
 
DESIRED/PREFERRED INDIVIDUAL CAPABILITIES:
 
  • Project Management experience.
  • Drafting CONOPS, high level system architectures, system and functional requirements, system design documents.
  • Significant experience with Intelligence Community customers, their missions and infrastructures.
  • Performance of systems engineering activities and preparation of work products in Technical Process Areas associated with the ISO/IEC 15288 standard.
  • Examination of ongoing technical trends, identification of ongoing needs, and provision of innovative recommendations to meet those needs.
  • Provision of technical recommendations for development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of all components of complex hardware/software systems to include requirements elicitation, analysis and function allocation, conducting systems requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards, developing systems architectures, and performing technical/non-technical assessment and management as well as end-to-end flow analysis.
  • Develop operational view, technical standards view, and system and services view for architectures using applicable DoDAF standards.
  • Assist with evaluation of security solutions to ensure they meet the security requirements for processing classified information in coordination with the Information Systems Security manager.
  • Excellent analytic, problem definition and problem solving skills.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
