Technical Writer - Level III

LOCATION:  Annapolis Junction/Ft. Meade, MD 20701

REQUIRED CLEARANCE:  TS/SCI with FULL SCOPE POLYGRAPH (must have prior to applying)

The Kenjya-Trusant Group is seeking a cleared Technical Writer to support a stand-alone network on a long-term, multi-year classified contract.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Support senior leaders and system engineers with generation and editing of technical, operational and policy related documentation and written deliverables, to include: white papers, RFCs, CONOPs, Requirements Documents, policy and guidance documents and Operations Messages.
  • Author technical documentation to support modernization initiatives, to include strategy documents, business plans, technology/modernization roadmaps, transition plans. 
  • Support organizational communications planning activities, and help develop and publish organizational communications to the workforce.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders to research and gather input for written artifacts. Input/develop original text based on research, references and input gathered from stakeholders.
  • Assist in identifying gaps in policies and instructions, and assist in writing policies and guidance that will enable the organization to incorporate and integrate data governance principles and data management processes, as required.
  • Review, edit and revise documents, recommend changes, merge and respond to document comments and tracked changes, to produce high quality written deliverables.
  • Establish and apply document formatting using formatting features found in MS Office products.
  • Assist with graphics development by using basic drawing tools and providing input to web developers.
  • Apply graphics and branding to documentation and written artifacts.
  • Work as part of a team to generate and deliver comprehensive written deliverables. Help project leads track schedule timelines and milestones for written deliverables.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required (with eight years of experience).
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted, for a total of twelve (12) years' experience.
  • A Master's degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, reducing the requirement to six (6) years of experience.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Eight (8) years of overall experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience in the generating and editing of technical and operational documentation, to include white papers, RFCs, CONOPS, Requirements Documents.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of demonstrated experience in generation and editing of policy related documents such as USSIDs, MOUs, MOAs, or similar artifacts.
  • Demonstrated experience in defining and applying customized document formatting in written artifacts using MS Office formatting features in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in MS Office products, to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project.
  • Experience tracking tasks or milestones towards achieving a planned deliverable within scheduled timeline.
 
PREFERRED Technical Skills (highly desired, but not mandatory):
  • Experience in helping develop engineering documentation in areas of Information Assurance and/or Network Administration.
  • Experience with web or graphics design.
  • Project management experience.
